Well. Here we are in COVID lockdown. Mrs Barljo is in a makeshift office upstairs. I’m downstairs suddenly being a multi-age group lower KS1 and upper KS2 teacher, and we’re allowed out once a day.

Weirdly, this is not an unusual situation on this fair Isle, never mind in the UK, and indeed globally.

What have we learned? Well, we’ve learned that routine is important, if only because it stops you scrabbling for ‘whatever to do next’. We’ve learned that snack time is best managed by setting snacks for the day out in advance rather than just getting from the cupboard. We’ve learned that days are vaguely manageable without a PlayStation.

Mostly we’re learning that we can just about do this.
